After two seasons of being presenter and content contributor on Honey TV’s #SangomaKhanyisa, I have come to the decision to depart from the show, in pursuit of opportunities that I had put aside in order to ensure that the presentation of African spirituality was authentically presented……I have always been outspoken about my journey for a healthier mental wellness as a way of life – this in time has opened me up to seeking spiritual understanding of self. In seeking personal understanding of spirituality, I would watch US shows such as; Crossing Over With John Edward and Tyler Henry: Hollywood Medium. These always led me to ask, why we as Africans continue to colonize our minds and understanding in matters of culture and spirituality. Why we shy away from the African way of doing things and how best to decolonize ourselves from that view. When I was asked to be part of #SangomaKhanyisa I saw it as an opportunity to be part of content creation that would give dignity and humanity to our African spiritual practices. Importantly, for me, the ask came at a time when we as a people were dealing with the effects Covid-19 had on our mental wellness and wellbeing. With these two seasons, I have fulfilled my personal mission, which is to contribute and advance the conversation/narrative on where mental health and African spirituality meet. I hope that the show continues on the path of instilling African spiritual values authentically and give healing to those who are wounded spiritually. Since completing the show, I picked up on the work that I had put aside, and continue my journey in both radio and television broadcasting with new and exciting projects. I am proud to be in production through my own company, Township Girl Media in collaboration with more established media and broadcasting partners.
