Vuyo Sikota drops song about freedom – Amatyathanga

by admin

Nomvuyo Sikota, who is a gospel musician as she performs under the stage name Vuyo Sikota, just released a song titled Amatyathanga – which means chains in isiXhosa.

It is a song about freedom and breaking free from obstacles and hardship in whatever facet of one’s life. It is meant to give hope to those who are going through the most and find themselves on the verge of giving up. At the same time it is a celebratory song for those who have overcome the worst. It gives thanks to God for being a King above all Kings.

The song came about through a vision; the tune, the lyrics, everything. In the vision I was singing the song and people were literally getting healed through song. That is the impact I hope and pray the song will have on people’s lives.

Says Vuyo Sikota.

She hails from the small town of Tsojana at Tsomo in the Eastern Cape, and now is based in Johannesburg. A staunch Christian and a dedicated servant of the Most High.

She began singing at the age of six at Sunday school and in elementary school. She sang in the infant’s choir and competed, she went on to sing solos in high school. She joined a choir at Central Methodist Church upon relocating to Johannesburg. Vuyo is also a worshiper under Rev N R Ncombo.
