For African gospel acts garnishing a million streams is a huge feat. Even more if the act is not recording traditional gospel. It’s for this reason that the gospel-dance duo AB Central made up of Andile Nkosi and Bassanio January are over the moon from their single “Jesus (AmaPiano)” reaching a million streams on Spotify and Apple Music.
AB Central is a multi-award-winning South African music production duo who are fast becoming a household name in the “Gospel AmaPiano” sub-genre.
This tag-team of composers, remixers, beat makers and collaborators makes and records gospel music across the genres of Dance, AmaPiano, House, R&B and Hip-Hop.
“Our happy place is when we bring strangers from different parts of the world together, and they leave with a hot record under their belts”,
the duo says.
As a collaboration hub, AB Central has worked with South African celebrated gospel stars including Gospel Silinda, Paul K, David The King, Fani Ntlama, and Nomakhuze Ndabula, to mention a few.
Their cross-border collaborations include working with acts in Nigeria, Kenya, UK and off late the USA. The group is also nominated for the highly coveted Crown Gospel Awards taking place this Sunday at FNB stadium.
“It is amazing the Jesus has been heard by youths across the African continent over a million times,”
they commented.
“We appreciate all blogs, radio stations, and playlist curators who help us achieve these volumes,”
they added.
