Mnqobi Yazo opens up about his music & African spirituality

We recently had a chat with the beloved South African artist Mnqobi Yazo, his music is steeped in Maskandi as well as Isicathamiya. Mnqobi was born and bred in the village of KwaMaphumulo and grew up in the Durban township on Umlazi.

He is associated with fellow traditional artists such as Sjava, Blaq Diamond as well as Aubrey Qwana. We caught up with Mnqobi Yazo at Mzukulu’s Phendula EP launch which was hosted at a venue called Smithcraft in Roodepoort.

On this chat he opens up about his music as well as his African spirituality.
