Born and bred in KZN, Anzo is a talented rap artist with an immense passion for writing and performing. Anzo’s first interaction with the South African hip hop scene was when he moved to the Vaal in the south east of Johannesburg, back in 2007.
There, he started exploring rap and taking part in high school cyphers and ultimately performing at various hip hop shows in and around the Vaal.
In August 2020 Anzo and fellow stable mates collaborated to create the
first body of work from 1020 Cartel, two time SAMA nominated – iSambulo (africori.to/isambulo).
On the album, Anzo’s enchanting raps brings depth and storytelling on the tracks uMfowethu, Amahora, Abanjani and Umntanakho. In the subsequent year Anzo lent himself to collaborations on songs Glory with Ghanaian artist D-Black ft Ice Prince and Sefa. As well as to chart topping Gawulubheke by MusiholiQ and Sjava.
On this interview Anzo opens up about his music, spirituality as well as the recent KZN floods.
